Crunchyroll partners with UK rapper to celebrate fall anime season

With the Fall anime season underway, fans around the world are enjoying new episodes of SPY×FAMILY, The Ancient Magus’ Bride, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End on Crunchyroll. The anime streaming giant and UK rapper Che Lingo collaborated together creating a song marking this season’s spectacular schedule.

Che (pronounced “Shay”) worked with Miku Nakamura, the vocalist of Japanese rock band Cö shu Nie, to compose “LIFETIME”, an expression of the light and dark themes heard across anime. Both Che and Cö shu Nie previously partnered on the first season of JUJUTSU KAISEN, with the latter’s song “give it back” used as the closing theme.

“LIFETIME” is like the path many shonen characters follow as they are guided by their emotions and drive to be the good they see in the world, contrasted between Nakamura’s lighter lyrics and Che’s faster-paced vocals.

“Anime inspires so much freedom, and we were able to exercise that creatively to the beat of a unique drum to show a genuine connection between anime, music and story-telling, manifesting a moment we can all celebrate through ‘LIFETIME’. I hope the sentiment lasts as long as the title suggests.”

-Che Lingo

“LIFETIME” was produced for use in Crunchyroll’s fall trailer and is now streaming on Spotify.

Hailing from Wandsworth in South London, Che’s career took off with the release of his debut album The Worst Generation in 2020. His latest album, Coming Up For Air, explores personal struggles endured during the pandemic, was released in April of this year. Che is also passionate about anime and manga and enjoys reading series like JUJUTSU KAISEN and Chainsaw Man.
