Experience the sights, sounds and tastes of Latin America with Carnaval del Sol, a family-friendly celebration held Saturday, July 6th, and Sunday, July 7th, 2024, in Vancouver’s Jonathan Rogers Park.
Events are organized into various plazas — the Plaza del Sol is abuzz with live music, Zumba and capoeira classes; learn more about indigenous cultures and traditions in the Indigenous Plaza, the Food Plaza brings the bold flavours of Central America, the luscious tropical tastes for the Caribbean, and the piquant palettes from South America; the Family Plaza has musical and interactive shows for the whole family; play games, create crafts and and more at the Kids Plaza; watch chefs cook up traditional treats and give demos on their work at the Experience Plaza, take things slow with activities and games tailored for the elderly in the Seniors Plaza, holders of VIP Passes can chill out in the VIP Plaza with complimentary sangria samples, grab a cool pint with live music in the Beer Plaza; peruse all sorts of traditional handicrafts, goods and services in the Artisan Plaza; and grab something for your animal companion in the Pet Plaza.
Tickets are required to attend Carnaval del Sol and available online or at the door. Passes purchased in advance are much cheaper: single day admission is $20; children 12 and under and seniors 65 and over are free. Two-day passes are $35, with $60 for the VIP pass that grants express entry to the event and select plazas, among its benefits.
Getting to Carnaval del Sol is easy with TransLink as Jonathan Rogers Park is within walking distance of the Broadway-City Hall Station on the Canada Line or from the buses on Broadway.
