Crunchyroll brings The Concierge and Trapezium to theatres in September

Two anime films are coming to the big screen in Canada and the United States next month, but for a single day only: The Concierge on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024, followed by Trapezium on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024. Crunchyroll has partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment to handle distribution of the two movies.

A list of participating theatres was not provided.

Crunchyroll supplied the synopsis of both films in a press release.

The Concierge
Akino is a trainee concierge at the Hokkyoku Department Store, an unusual department store that caters exclusively to animals. Under the watchful eyes of the floor manager and senior concierges, Akino runs around to fulfill the wishes of customers with a myriad of needs and problems in her pursuit to become a full-fledged concierge.

Trapezium
Driven by an unwavering passion for becoming an idol, Yu Azuma, a young, ambitious first-year student at Joshu East High School, embarks on a journey to form an idol group.

To make her dream a reality, she recruits one girl from each of her region’s four high schools (located to the north, east, south, and west) and soon finds her fellow group members.

The Concierge is adapted from the manga The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store by Tsuchika Nishimura. The film is directed by Yoshimi Itazu, with a script written by Satomi Ooshima, music composed by Tofubeats, with animation production by Production I.G. It premiered in Japan on October 20th, 2023.

Trapezium is based on the novel of the same name by Kazumi Takayama. The film is directed by Masahiro Shinohara, with a screenplay by Yuko Kakihara, music composition by Masaru Yokoyama and animation production by Cloverworks. Trapezium opened in Japanese theatres on May 10th, 2024.

August 24th, 2024, update

Landmark Cinemas will screen both The Concierge and Trapezium in Japanese with English subtitles.

September 6th, 2024, update

Cineplex will screen both The Concierge and Trapezium in Japanese with English subtitles.
