August 19th is Haikyu!! Day in Japan. To mark the occasion, Weekly Shonen Jump and Sony have partnered to create a video with scenes from the popular volleyball manga set to the fourth opening song “FLY HIGH!!” by Japanese rock band BURNOUT SYNDROMES.

Written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate, Haikyu!! follows the Karasuno High School volleyball team as it looks to reclaim its former glory in the sport. Serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine between February 20th, 2012 and July 20th, 2020, Haikyu!! was compiled into 45 individual volumes, selling more than 55 million copies.

Adapted into an anime by Production I.G in 2014, four seasons of Haikyu!! were broadcast until 2020; the series will culminate with a two-part movie titled Haikyu!! FINAL, the details of which are not fully announced.

BURNOUT SYNDROMES is a three-member rock band based out of Osaka with guitarist and vocalist Kazuumi Kumagai, bassist Taiyu Ishikawa, and drummer Takuya Hirose. Formed in 2005, the band has produced six studio albums and six singles and is starting a tour later this month in South Korea.

In North America, fans can catch all the courtside action on Crunchyroll or with the English-translated manga from Viz Media.
