Anime fans are about to pay more when watching their favourite shows on Crunchyroll as the streaming service has announced price increases in select markets.
Subscribers in Argentina, Colombia, France, Portugal, the United States will see their bill go up by a few dollars monthly. The Mega Fan tier jumps from $9.99 USD a month to $11.99 USD a month, while the Ultimate Fan tier goes from $14.99 USD a month to $15.99 USD. The lowest tier, ad-supported Fan, remains at $7.99 USD a month. Additionally, the 14 day free trial period has dropped to seven days.
In Canada, the Fan tier is $9.99 CAD a month, followed by Mega Fan at $12.49 CAD a month, and then Ultimate Fan at $124.99 CAD a year.
Each tier comes with the following benefits.
- Fan – Stream on single device, 5% discount in Crunchyroll Store (US only).
- Mega Fan – Stream on four devices, offline viewing, Crunchyroll Game Vault, 10% discount in Crunchyroll Store (US only).
- Ultimate Fan – Stream on six devices, offline viewing, Crunchyroll Game Vault, 15% discount in Crunchyroll Store (US only).
It is not known if these changes will impact Canadian members any time soon.
According to a post on Crunchyroll, this is the first change in price since 2019, necessary to support the company’s “…investment in more anime, additional services like music and games, and additional subscriber benefits.”
Recently, Crunchyroll ended support for FunimationNow following their merger in 2021, causing an uproar amongst fans who lost downloaded digital content and saw their plans skyrocket.
