A Solo Leveling movie is coming to theatres across Canada and the United States starting on Friday, December 6th, 2024.
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment are handling distribution of Solo Leveling -ReAwakening-, which is a recap of the first season and first two episodes of the upcoming second season.
Participating theatres were not provided; this information is expected closer to the December premiere date.
Solo Leveling is based off of the South Koren web novel written by Chugong; it was adapted into a manhwa illustrated by DUBU in 2018; then followed by an anime which premiered globally on Crunchyroll earlier this year. A second season is scheduled to begin in January 2025. A documentary, also available on Crunchyroll, explores the show’s journey from novel into anime and its popularity with fans worldwide.
Crunchyroll provided a synopsis of Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- in its press release.
Over a decade has passed since a pathway called a “gate” which connects this world and another dimension suddenly appeared, and people with superhuman powers called “hunters” have been awakened. Hunters use their superhuman powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates to make a living, and Sung Jinwoo, a hunter of the lowest rank, is considered the Weakest Hunter of All Mankind. One day, he encounters a double dungeon, a high-level dungeon hidden inside a low-level one. In front of a severely wounded Jinwoo, a mysterious quest window pops up. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to take on the quest, which makes him the only person who can level up.
Solo Leveling is directed by Shunsuke Nakashige, character designs by Tomoko Sudo, monster designs by Hirotaka Tokuda, music composition by Hiroyuki Sawano, with animation production by A-1 Pictures and motion graphics by Production I.G.
