Revisit the original Gundam film trilogy, without need of a subscription, for a limited time on YouTube as announced by the official North American social media account for the Gundam franchise.
Each film is shown in Japanese with English, Chinese (traditional and simplified), Korean, French and German subtitles.
The incredibly popular mecha series got its start as the anime Mobile Suit Gundam back in 1979 from animation studio Sunrise. Three films followed, beginning with Mobile Suit Gundam I in 1981, quickly succeeded by Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow later that same year, and culminating with Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space in 1982.
A synopsis describes the first film Mobile Suit Gundam I:
War has broken out between the human colonies in space. Helping evacuate his neighbours, a teenager named Amuro Ray finds himself upon an un-manned Mobile Suit — the RX-78-2. Taking control, he swiftly eliminates the attacking Principality of Zeon’s Zaku units, setting forth his new destiny with Earth’s Federation Forces.
The classic trilogy was recently reshown in Canadian theatres last October.
