Vancouver to relight Olympic cauldron after Winter Olympics opening ceremony

Kicking off the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina, Italy, the Vancouver Olympic cauldron will glow once again.

At 3:45 pm on Friday, February 6th, 2026, join local officials and sports figures for a special ceremony which includes a lighting of the Olympic cauldron in Jack Poole Plaza at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

The natural gas-fueled cauldron has been lit for previous Winter Olympic celebrations, along with other events, including Canada Day.

Vancouver hosted the Winter Olympics from February 12th, to February 28th, 2010.
