Nintendo shares new games coming to Switch at E3 2021

This morning, Nintendo held a near 40-minute long Nintendo Direct live stream event as part of E3 2021 to showcase a collection of 28 titles and updates coming to the Switch console, including a new trailer for the untitled sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Two of Nintendo’s executives, Shinya Takahashi and Yoshiaki Koizumi, introduced each game, along with appearances by Masahiro Sakurai from Sora Ltd. and Nintendo’s own Eiji Aonuma.

First up was the debut of a new fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Kazuya Mishima from Tekken. Kazuya is part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 downloadable content pack which is available now. Masahiro Sakurai will devote a Smash Bros. Direct on June 28th, 2021 to more of this character from Bandai Namco Entertainment’s popular fighting series.

Square Enix revealed the Life is Strange Remastered Collection and Life is Strange: True Colors on Sunday, but today was announced they’re both coming to the Nintendo Switch. Life is Strange Remastered Collection gives the first two titles in the series a visual overhaul, whereas Life is Strange: True Colors is a new entry. In it, Alex must interact with the residents of a small town to learn more about the death of her brother and use their auras to guide her to the truth. Life is Strange: True Colors launches September 10th, 2021.

Another Square Enix title, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cloud Version, is coming to the Switch. Take control of Star Lord and the ragtag group Guardians of the Galaxy as they fight from one planet to another to protect the universe. Releases on October 26th, 2021.

Worms Rumble pits up to 32 players online in a shoot-out through various levels. A new map called Spaceport Showdown and exclusive outfit for the Switch version are free, plus an additional 25% discount is added for pre-orders made on the Nintendo eShop. Worms Rumble launches on June 23rd, 2021.

Explore the world of Orcanon in Astria Ascending, a beautifully designed JRPG utilizing turn-based combat with over 20 levels and more than 50 hours of game play. Releases on September 30th, 2021.

Ever wanted to build and operate a university? Realize that dream with Two Point Campus. Construct a place of higher education and choose the classes for its digital citizens to attend. No detail is too small in Two Point Campus, which launches in 2022.

Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Super Monkey Ball with Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. Over 300 levels, 12 mini-games are return from the original three games in the series. The excitement rolls onto the Nintendo Switch October 5th, 2021.

There’s no party like a Mario Party! Revisit five classic gameboards from the Nintendo 64 titles with over 100 minigames spanning the entire series in Mario Party Superstars. Play online with friend who might be at a different shindig. The fun starts on October 29th, 2021.

Samus Aran returns in Metroid Dread, a two dimensional adventure title that pits the galactic bounty hunter against the deadly E.M.M.I. robots. A new amiibo featuring Samus in her Dread suit and a special edition of the game complete with artbook and Steelbox case are up for pre-order. Launches on October 8th, 2021.

Crank the volume and move to the beat with Just Dance 2022. 40 new songs like “Level Up” by Ciara, “Believer” by Imagine Dragons, “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyoncé are included, plus gamers can expand the library with a subscription to Just Dance Unlimited. The music starts on November 4th, 2021.

Hit the road with Cruis’n Blast and pick from 23 different vehicles and almost 30 different courses to burn rubber. Four players can join in and speed through this classic arcade title. Cruis’n Blast launches in Fall 2021.

Goku returns in DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT + A NEW POWER AWAKENS SET. Four story segments retell the legendary Dragon Ball Z story as Kakarot faces off against invasions from Vegeta, Freiza, Cell and Majin Buu. Level up with training courses, aid local villagers and explore an open world in DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT + A NEW POWER AWAKENS SET. Releases on September 24th, 2021.

Head for the links with Mario and pals in Mario Golf: Super Rush. Exciting new modes take the game of golf to a whole new level. Keep an eye open for free updates which will add new characters and courses over the coming months. Tee time is on June 25th, 2021.

MONSTER HUNTER STORIES 2: Wings of Ruin opens an amazing world filled with monsters and resources to help advance players quests and help their beastly companions. Grab friends to take part in multiplayer adventures. A demo is available on June 25th before the full game releases on July 9th, 2021. Data from the demo is transferrable to the final version.

That weaselly Wario is at it again, and this time he’s not alone! In WarioWare: Get It Together! unique microgames require quick thinking and using one of the playable character’s skills to overcome challenges to achieve victory. Two-player mode requires a second set of Joy-Con controllers or a second Switch (and copy of the game) for wireless play. Getting crazy starts on September 10th, 2021.

Shin Megami Tensei V is the latest entry in the series and exclusive to the Switch. Forced into a demonic version of Tokyo, befriend the creatures using various responses in a quest to save an apocalyptic metropolis. For those that can’t be turned, look for their weakness in order to defeat them. Shin Megami Tensei V launches on November 12th, 2021.

It’s paradise, but only once the baddies are defeated. In Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp, Jabberwock Island is more than just a tropical getaway. Teeming with enemies, it gives players a chance to level up, build their arsenal and acquire wealth to move on. Hit the beaches in Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp later this year.

Danganronpa Decadence is a collection of three titles from the series: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony Anniversary Edition. The physical edition contains all three games, while each are available for individual purchase on the Nintendo eShop. Releases later in 2021.

Don’t turn the lights off when playing FATAL FRAME: Maiden of Black Water. Mount Hikami is not an average mountain. Saddled with mysterious hauntings, explore the surrounding landscape from different characters’ perspectives to find out what’s really going on. FATAL FRAME: Maiden of Black Water launches later in 2021.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 brings the first two titles of the skateboarding franchise to the Nintendo Switch. Completely updated with new visuals and the same great soundtrack Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 will have players doing kick flips in no time. The session starts on June 25th, 2021.

Although Ubisoft first announced Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope at their event on Saturday June 12th, Nintendo confirmed its release. Mario must join forces with the rabid rabbits in their toughest adventure yet! With the galaxy under attack, Mario, his friends and the Rabbids must visit each planet and interact with their bizarre residents in order to save them. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope releases in 2022.

The tanks are back! Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a remastered edition of the Game Boy Advance strategy games Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2. Lead the Orange Star Army to victory, but be mindful of the terrain and weather and plan ahead to gain the advantage. The battle starts on December 3rd, 2021.

To close out the presentation, and to honour the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, Eiji Aonuma shared new content for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. The expansion pack contains two new episodes to the game: Pulse of the Ancients which becomes available on June 18th and Guardian of Remembrance near the end of November. The expansion pack has a suggested retail price of $19.99 USD.

In similar fashion to the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. comes Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda. Loaded with four classic games: The Legend of ZeldaZelda II: The Adventure of Link and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and a Zelda-themed version of Vermin with Link as the playable character. This portable device includes an interactive clock based on Zelda II: The Adventure of Link and releases on November 12th, 2021 with a suggested retail price of $49.99 USD.

A trailer for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild ended the video. Taking to the skies of Hyrule, Link has acquired some additional abilities which are needed to visit the expanded world and now floating Hyrule Castle. Nintendo hopes to have the game ready for release sometime in 2022.

No details on a long-rumored Nintendo Switch Pro console were hinted at or revealed during the presentation.
