My Hero Academia manga to end on August 5

The final five chapters of the manga My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi will appear in the combined issue 36/37 of Weekly Shonen Jump which goes on sale Monday, August 5th, 2024. The decade-long run will end with chapter 430.

The announcement was shared on Twitter/X by the official account for the manga which also included a comment from Horikoshi himself. In it, he apologizes for a scheduling conflict that resulted in a two week hiatus. Five “episodes” (chapters) are left and he will do his best for the fans to enjoy. He goes to add the reason he was able to draw Deku and his friends for ten years were his fans continued to read the manga.

My Hero Academia has become a worldwide phenomenon, selling over 100 million copies this year. It spawned an anime, which is in its seventh season; three feature films, with a fourth releasing this August; video games; and live-action stage plays.

In a world where many people possess unique abilities called “quirks,” Izuku “Deku” Midoriya is without one to call his own. After a fateful meeting with the pro-hero All Might, Deku acquires the “One For All” quirk and enrolls in U.A. High School starting a journey to become a pro-hero.

My Hero Academia is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, where it first appeared on July 7th, 2014. In North America, the manga is available translated into English from Viz Media in both digital and print formats; it’s also accessible worldwide on MANGA Plus.
