The classic anime film Ninja Scroll is coming to the big screen across Canada in time for its 30th anniversary. Cineplex will screen the epic in Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English for three nights only on Wednesday, September 11th, Thursday, September 12th, and Sunday, September 15th, 2024.
A wandering swordsman named Jubei Kibagami is pulled into a conflict that could throw feudal Japan into chaos. Together with Kagero, a kunoichi, and Dakuan, a spy, Jubei must fight his way to prevent a muderous clan from toppling the Tokugawa shogunate.
Ninja Scroll was written and directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, with cinematography by Hitoshi Yamaguchi, music by Kaoru Wada, and animation production by Madhouse.
The Japanese voice cast stars:
- Koichi Yamadera as Jubei Kibagami
- Emi Shinohara as Kagero
- Takeshi Aono as Dakuan
- Daisuke Gori as Genma Himuro
The English voice cast features:
- Dean Wein as Jubei Kibagami
- Wendee Lee as Kagero
- Steve Apostolina as Dakuan
- Richard Epcar as Genma Himuro
Ninja Scroll premiered in Japanese theatres on June 5th, 1993. An English dub was released by Manga Entertainment in 1995.
