Model builders, get ready as Bandai Namco has added a Canadian stop to the Gundam Base World Tour this year. Although it’s listed in Vancouver, Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby will host the free-to-enter pop-up shop in the Grand Court from Saturday, March 7th, through Sunday, March 22nd, 2026.
The Gundam Base is a retail chain dedicated to Mobile Suit Gundam and has locations in Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Taiwan, and the United States. Its shelves are stocked with model kits called Gunpla (a portmanteau of Gundam and plastic model) and other exclusive merchandise to the mecha series.
Shoppers can also snag an exclusive decorated bag and an EX Base trading card from the Gundam Card Game.
Metropolis at Metrotown previously hosted another of Bandai Namco’s pop-up stores with Tamashii Nations in March 2024. Anime fans were able to peruse a selection of figures for sale from Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Dragon Ball, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Sailor Moon, and others.
Other stops on the world tour include Paris, France; Düsseldorf, Germany; Barcelona, Spain; Sydney, Australia; Seoul, South Korea; Mexico City, Mexico; Houston, Texas; East Rutherford, New Jersey; and Chicago, Illinois.
